Australia to test young fast bowlers against England

Australia will give young fast bowlers Lance Morris and Mahli Beardman a chance to impress in a 50-over tour match against England

Australia will get a glimpse of its future fast-bowling talent when Lance Morris and Mahli Beardman lead Western Australia's attack against England in a 50-over tour match on Saturday at the WACA Ground, Cricket Australia said in a statement.

Both Morris and Beardman are considered part of the national team's future but have struggled with injuries throughout their careers.

Morris, 28, will play his first game in 20 months after overcoming a side strain that delayed his comeback from spinal surgery.

Western Australia skipper Ashton Turner has called for patience with Morris, saying it will take time for him to build up to the physical demands of bowling at high speed again.

"We need to be patient with these exceptionally talented fast bowlers," Turner said.

"It will take some time but they are both, in their own right, really exciting propositions."

Beardman, 21, has also faced injury challenges as his body adjusts to the workloads of being a fast bowler at the top level, but has already taken an international cap in T20 cricket for Australia.

The two young fast bowlers will be part of Australia's squad for the upcoming white-ball series against England, which includes five ODIs and five T20Is.
