Pakistan and Türkiye agreed on Wednesday to sustain institutional engagement and expand business cooperation to turn existing economic opportunities into trade and investment, the state broadcaster Radio Pakistan reported.

The agreement emerged from a meeting between Commerce Minister Jam Kamal Khan and Turkish Minister of Trade Ömer Bolat on the sidelines of the 42nd Session of the Standing Committee for Economic and Commercial Cooperation, known as COMCEC, in Istanbul.

Both sides stressed that closer coordination between government bodies and the private sector is needed to convert the potential of the relationship into concrete results.

Kamal Khan highlighted investment opportunities for Turkish companies in Pakistan, particularly 1,000 acres of land earmarked for Turkish enterprises in the Karachi Industrial Park.

He invited Turkish businesses to take advantage of that opportunity by setting up industrial units and expanding their manufacturing and investment presence in Pakistan, the minister said.

COMCEC is a body that works to promote economic and commercial cooperation among member states of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation, of which both Pakistan and Türkiye are members.

The two countries have long sought to expand bilateral trade and investment, and the Karachi Industrial Park offer is part of Pakistan's broader effort to attract foreign manufacturers.
