Commerce Minister Jam Kamal Khan arrived in Istanbul on Monday to represent Pakistan at the 42nd session of the Standing Committee for Economic and Commercial Cooperation of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, the state broadcaster Radio Pakistan reported.

During the visit, Kamal will take part in the ministerial sessions of the committee, known as COMCEC.

He will also meet his counterparts from Türkiye, Saudi Arabia and Egypt to discuss ways to strengthen trade ties, widen market access and explore new areas of economic cooperation.

The session will concentrate on boosting trade among OIC member states, increasing the role of the private sector and building trade financing tools designed to help exports grow.

Radio Pakistan reported that the minister's participation reflects Pakistan's commitment to expanding economic partnerships and strengthening regional trade links with OIC members.

The OIC is an intergovernmental body of 57 member states that works on issues ranging from economic development to social and political cooperation among Muslim-majority countries.

COMCEC operates within the OIC framework and focuses on economic and commercial cooperation, including trade, investment and financial mechanisms that member countries can use to deepen their links.

Türkiye, which hosts the Istanbul meeting, is a long-standing OIC member and a significant trading partner for many of the bloc's members.
