Director General of Inter-Services Public Relations (DG ISPR) Lieutenant General Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry said on Monday that Pakistan has a clear strategy to deal with terrorism, the state broadcaster Radio Pakistan reported.

He made the remarks in an interview with the news agency Reuters.

Chaudhry said one part of the approach is to cut off all the enablers of terrorism operating inside Pakistan.

He said the provincial government in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa was one of these enablers, describing it as incompetent and indifferent.

Chaudhry said about 200 intelligence-based operations are carried out every day against terrorists, and that Pakistan would continue on this path.

Responding to a question, he said terrorists acting at the behest of their masters have an anti-development agenda.

He said the people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa have suffered the most from terrorism, describing them as proud, brave and a very special part of Pakistani society.

Chaudhry said their primary interest is security and stability, and that nobody in the province is against counterterrorism operations.

He said residents have welcomed the removal of a key enabler that had been hampering counterterrorism efforts.

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, which borders Afghanistan, has been the scene of a long-running militant insurgency that has repeatedly disrupted security in the province.
