Activists rallied at the Port of Elizabeth in New Jersey on Monday to oppose the export of weapons to Israel, the official Palestinian news agency WAFA reported.

The demonstration was part of a series of international actions at ports around the world this week, calling for an end to arms shipments to Israel.

Organizers said the actions spanned more than 100 ports in at least 22 countries and involved activists, port workers and labor unions.

Participants held a vehicle procession inside the port area, displaying the Palestinian flag and demanding an end to the transfer of weapons to Israel.

The protesters also called for a boycott of the Israeli shipping company Zim.

Organizers described the campaign as an international solidarity effort aimed at halting exports of weapons used in the war on the Gaza Strip.

They said the campaign also highlights the role that ports and shipping companies play in carrying military equipment to Israel, which they described as the occupying state.

The Port of Elizabeth is one of the major container terminals serving the New York and New Jersey harbor on the U.S. East Coast.

Activists have targeted ports and shipping firms in several countries since the war in the Gaza Strip began, seeking to limit the movement of military cargo.
