A show of solidarity with a global port workers' strike took place at a Gaza City fishing port, protesting the use of supply chains to aid Israel's military actions in Gaza, Anadolu Agency reported.

The event was part of a broader movement involving over 25 unions from 113 ports across 22 countries and territories, planning labor actions for Friday.

These actions will include work stoppages and demonstrations, demanding an end to the transportation of weapons and military equipment through civilian ports to conflict zones.

Participants expressed solidarity with port workers and seafarers taking a stand against the use of civilian facilities to support Israeli military operations.

Zakaria Bakr, head of the General Union of Fishing and Marine Production Workers, said the rally aimed to convey Palestinian fishermen's message to global port workers and thank them for their support.

Bakr highlighted that Palestinian fishermen have faced severe restrictions, including killings, injuries, and property destruction, preventing them from accessing the sea for over three years.

He urged port workers to continue their solidarity actions, calling for fishermen's rights to be restored.

Nour Saad, a spokesperson, stated that the rally opposed using ports and supply chains to support Israel's military actions against Palestinians.

The global labor actions aim to prevent public resources from supporting war economies and armament.

The rally occurred amid ongoing Israeli restrictions on Palestinian fishermen, exacerbating the humanitarian crisis in Gaza.

The Gaza Strip has faced a severe humanitarian crisis due to the ongoing conflict between Israel and Hamas, resulting in significant damage to infrastructure and a substantial loss of life.
