Gaza war death toll rises to 74,609, with 175,872 injured
Medical sources said 15 people were killed and 38 injured in Gaza hospitals over the past 48 hours, and 18 earlier deaths were added to the toll.
The death toll from Israel's war on the Gaza Strip has risen to 74,609 people killed and 175,872 injured since October 7, 2023, the official Palestinian news agency WAFA reported on Monday.
Medical sources said in a report that hospitals in Gaza received 15 dead and 38 injured people over the past 48 hours.
Since the ceasefire took effect on October 11, 2025, the report counted 1,593 people killed and 5,748 injured, the medical sources said.
The same report said 847 bodies have been recovered since the ceasefire.
Many victims remain trapped under rubble or lying on roads, the report noted, because ambulance and rescue crews cannot reach them.
The Martyrs' Accreditation Committee verified and approved the records of 18 people, who were then added to the cumulative death toll, the report noted.
This was the first such update since the previous addition to the figures on October 24, 2026, the report said.
The war began after Hamas-led attacks on southern Israel on October 7, 2023, which killed about 1,200 people in Israel, according to Israeli figures widely cited by international media.
Death tolls in Gaza are compiled by health authorities there, and independent verification has been difficult because foreign journalists have had restricted access to the territory.
