Qatar Chamber has partnered with the United Nations Industrial Development Organisation (UNIDO) to develop a Qatari model for entrepreneurship and innovation, aiming to empower entrepreneurs, particularly women and youth, Qatar News Agency (QNA) reported on Tuesday.

The model is based on the strategic cooperation between Qatar Chamber and UNIDO, and was discussed during a meeting between Qatar Chamber Board Member Ibtihaj Al Ahmadani and UNIDO Deputy Director General Fatou Haidara.

The meeting also discussed fostering cooperation in women's entrepreneurship and the role of the Qatari Businesswomen Forum in promoting women's participation in economic activities.

Qatar Chamber's Entrepreneurship and Innovation Center and UNIDO's Investment and Technology Promotion Office have collaborated on a 'Training of Trainers Programme' in entrepreneurship and innovation.

Qatar Chamber's Acting General Manager Ali Bu Sherbak Al Mansoori said the Chamber is committed to promoting entrepreneurship and innovation as key drivers of economic diversification and private-sector growth.

UNIDO Deputy Director General Fatou Haidara commended the cooperation between UNIDO and Qatar Chamber, emphasizing the private sector's role in supporting sustainable industrial development and driving innovation.

The Qatari model aims to create a supportive ecosystem for businesses to scale and attract high-quality investment, positioning Qatar as a regional and international platform for sharing expertise and successful practices.

Qatar has been actively promoting entrepreneurship and innovation in recent years, with a focus on diversifying its economy and reducing its dependence on oil revenues.

The country's entrepreneurship ecosystem has been growing, with various initiatives and programs launched to support startups and small businesses, including the Qatar Entrepreneurship and Innovation Center.
