Turkish firm's TB2 drone launches two FPV drones in test
The TB2 carried 16 small drones made by Skydagger and released two over the test area, the company said.
Two small attack drones fired from a Bayraktar TB2 combat drone hit their targets during a flight test in northwestern Türkiye on Wednesday, Turkish defense firm Baykar said.
The test took place at the Kesan Flight Training and Test Center in Edirne province, where the TB2 took off with 16 first-person-view drones built by Skydagger on board, the company said.
After launch, the larger aircraft acted as a relay in the air, passing signals so operators on the ground could guide the smaller drones to their targets through cameras that showed the view from each craft, Baykar said.
The TB2 entered service with the Turkish Armed Forces in 2014 and was first armed in 2015, and the new test adds to its strike capability.
Besides reconnaissance and surveillance flights, the aircraft can use an onboard laser to mark targets and carry up to four guided munitions, including Roketsan's MAM-L and MAM-C.
The TB2 fleet passed 1 million flight hours in 2024, a decade after it entered service, the company said.
Baykar said it has signed export agreements for the TB2 with 36 countries and for its Akinci combat drone with 16, covering 39 countries across the two programs.
The company's exports reached a record $2.2 billion in 2025, and overseas sales have made up about 90 percent of its revenue in recent years, it said.
