West Indies name 15 men and 15 women on retainers
Veteran opener John Campbell regains an international contract, while Matthew Forde and Amir Jangoo receive their first retainers for the 2026-27 season.
Cricket West Indies has granted senior retainer contracts to 15 men and 15 women for the 2026-27 season, the International Cricket Council (ICC) said in a statement on Thursday.
Three men also received development contracts, and the deals cover the period from Oct. 1, 2026, to Sept. 30, 2027.
Shai Hope will keep the captaincy of the ODI and Twenty20 International sides, Roston Chase will lead the Test team and Hayley Matthews remains captain of the senior women's team.
John Campbell is back on an international retainer for the first time since 2019, having had a strong 2025-26 season that included his maiden Test century, a score of 115 against India in Delhi last October.
Campbell also returned to the ODI side after six years and marked his comeback with a 68-ball 101 in Guwahati in September.
Matthew Forde and Amir Jangoo have also been given their first international retainers, with Forde the leading powerplay wicket-taker for West Indies across both white-ball formats over the past year.
Forde took 10 wickets in T20Is and six in ODIs during that period.
Jangoo scored a career-best 233 against Sri Lanka in Antigua in June, and his stand of 401 with Chase set a world record for the sixth wicket in Tests.
He was unbeaten on 111 at the end of day one of the ongoing second WTC Test against Bangladesh.
Keacy Carty, Chase, Justin Greaves and Jomel Warrican are entering the final year of their two-year contracts.
Jewel Andrew, Ackeem Auguste and Vitel Lawes were awarded development contracts, and all three have already played for West Indies, while Auguste and Lawes are receiving their first international contracts.
In the senior women's group, Mandy Mangru has earned her first international retainer after being part of the squad that reached the semi-finals of the 2026 ICC Women's T20 World Cup.
Deandra Dottin and Chinelle Henry are entering the final year of their two-year deals.
The women's squad will prepare for a three-match ODI series against Pakistan in December under interim head coach Andre Coley, a series that gives West Indies a chance to secure automatic qualification for the next ICC Women's Cricket World Cup.
Miles Bascombe, CWI's Director of Cricket, said each contract is linked to upcoming assignments, with the men's first task being the ICC Men's Cricket World Cup Qualifier in February.
