Israeli forces injure two Palestinians and demolish memorial in West Bank
Palestinian figures show West Bank attacks rose 52.8 percent in October, with settler attacks more than doubling from September.
Israeli forces injured two Palestinians, detained a young man and demolished a memorial in several West Bank villages and towns on Monday, Turkey's state-run news agency Anadolu Agency reported.
The Palestine Red Crescent Society said its crews took the two men to hospital after Israeli forces assaulted them in Al-Minya, near Bethlehem, and they suffered bruises.
In Kafr Dan, west of Jenin, special forces entered a house and several shops before seizing a young man and pulling out, the official Palestinian news agency WAFA reported.
In Al-Lubban ash-Sharqiya, south of Nablus, troops driving a military bulldozer tore down a memorial to slain Palestinians at the village's main entrance, local sources said.
The soldiers also took a display showing a map of Palestine, the sources added.
Troops uprooted olive trees and closed iron gates at the entrances to Al-Lubban ash-Sharqiya and nearby As-Sawiya, while bulldozers blocked dirt tracks that residents use to travel in and out, the sources said.
In Hizma, northeast of occupied East Jerusalem, forces shut the town's entrances and several shops and fired stun grenades toward residents.
Troops also searched the town of Ramin, east of Tulkarem, where no arrests were reported, and in the nearby suburb of Iktaba, military vehicles disrupted traffic while soldiers removed a Palestinian flag from Martyrs' Square, WAFA reported.
The Palestinian Wall and Settlement Resistance Commission said it recorded 3,133 attacks by Israeli forces and Israeli settlers in the West Bank in October, up 52.8 percent from September.
The commission said 1,764 of those attacks were carried out by Israeli forces and 1,369 by settlers.
It said attacks by settlers more than doubled from 647 in September.
Israeli troops have carried out frequent raids across the occupied West Bank in recent years, and Palestinian officials have repeatedly accused soldiers and settlers of attacks on residents and property.
