A total of 1,073 Qataris, comprising 454 men and 619 women, have signed up for the Categories Division of the Sheikh Jassim bin Mohammed bin Thani Noble Qur'an Competition, the Ministry of Endowments (Awqaf) and Islamic Affairs announced Saturday, according to Qatar's state news agency QNA.

The competition features five levels of Qur'an memorization: five, 10, 15, 20, and 25 parts of the Qur'an. Participants can progress through these categories to memorize the entire Qur'an and compete in the full-memorization category.

The Ministry of Awqaf described the Categories Division as an educational initiative aimed at nurturing national Qur'anic talent and strengthening participants' connection to the Qur'an.

Testing for the competition is set to begin on October 31. Male participants will take their tests at Imam Muhammad ibn Abd Al-Wahhab Mosque, while female participants will be tested at the Women's Activity Center of the Department of Da'wah and Religious Guidance in Al Waab.

The detailed testing schedule is expected to be released later this week.

The Sheikh Jassim bin Mohammed bin Thani Noble Qur'an Competition is part of Qatar's efforts to promote Qur'anic culture and reinforce faith-based values and national identity.

The competition aligns with Awqaf's 2025-2030 strategic plan and Qatar National Vision 2030.

The Sheikh Jassim Competition is a significant event in Qatar's cultural and religious landscape, showcasing the country's commitment to preserving and promoting Islamic heritage.

In the context of Qatar's National Vision 2030, which emphasizes the importance of education, social development, and cultural preservation, this competition plays a vital role in fostering a deeper understanding and appreciation of the Qur'an among Qatari citizens.

By providing a platform for individuals to develop their Qur'anic skills, the competition contributes to the country's goal of creating a knowledgeable and spiritually conscious society.
