The initiative aims to provide digital learning opportunities to high achievers from public schools and madrassas, enabling them to access e-libraries and acquire knowledge, the state broadcaster Radio Pakistan reported.

The Prime Minister emphasized that the Chromebooks will be distributed based on merit, without discrimination based on economic background or educational institution.

He also highlighted the government's commitment to ensuring equal educational opportunities for all talented students, including those studying in religious seminaries.

The government plans to distribute the 500,000 Chromebooks within two years, having previously distributed 600,000 laptops over ten years.

The Prime Minister expressed gratitude to Chairman Tokyo Technology Care Foundation Rashid Minhas for supporting the initiative.

Minister for Federal Education and Professional Training Dr. Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui stated that the government is taking steps to align the education system with global trends, emphasizing that investment in education builds the economy and secures the nation's future.

Rana Mashhood Ahmad Khan, Chairman Prime Minister's Youth Programme, announced that along with Chromebooks, the government will provide high-speed internet connections to 500,000 students, benefiting up to 2.5 million people.

The initiative is part of the government's efforts to empower and respect the youth, which remains a core vision of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.

The Chairman Tokyo Technology Care Foundation, Rashid Minhas, informed that the foundation has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the government to facilitate students in expanding their digital reach.

Pakistan has a large youth population of 150 million, which can be transformed into a major driver of national development, according to Minister Dr. Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui.
