Settlers burn vehicles and house in Yatta, south of Hebron
Activist Osama Makhamreh said students from Khirbet Asfi were held for about an hour on their way to school, and a cave home was vandalized.
Settlers burned two vehicles, a house and an agricultural structure in Yatta, south of Hebron, on Tuesday, the official Palestinian news agency WAFA reported.
Osama Makhamreh, an anti-settlement activist in southern Hebron, said the attacks took place in the Wadi al-Rakhim area of Yatta.
Two vehicles belonging to brothers Ali Mahmoud Khalil Abu Ali and Mohammed Mahmoud Abu Ali were set alight, he said.
An agricultural structure owned by the Mur family was also set on fire, Makhamreh said.
A house under construction owned by Ishaq Mur was torched, destroying its contents, and racist graffiti was painted on its walls, he added.
Makhamreh said settlers, protected by Israeli forces, blocked students from Khirbet Asfi in Masafer Yatta and held them for about an hour as they walked to schools in Al-Majaz and Al-Fakhit.
He said people wearing military-style uniforms also raided the home of Yousef Makhamreh in the village of Al-Markaz in Masafer Yatta.
The intruders damaged surveillance cameras, punctured water tanks and broke into a cave used by the resident as a dwelling, causing extensive damage to its contents, Makhamreh said.
Masafer Yatta is a cluster of communities in the South Hebron Hills where residents have long faced disputes with settlers and Israeli authorities over land and homes.
