Türkiye seeks to expand farm partnership with African nations
Trade Minister Omer Bolat said agriculture is a priority under Ankara's 2025-2029 Africa trade strategy and would pair Turkish expertise with African production.

Türkiye will push for deeper farm cooperation with African countries as part of its wider trade ties, Trade Minister Omer Bolat said on Tuesday, Turkey's state-run news agency Anadolu Agency reported.
Bolat made the remarks after attending the sixth Africa Agriculture and Food Summit in Istanbul, and he set out his assessment of bilateral relations in a post on the social media platform NSosyal.
He described Africa as one of the world's rising economic centres, pointing to its natural resources, young population, expanding markets and production capacity.
Bolat said agriculture is one of the priority areas of cooperation under Türkiye's Strategy for Developing Commercial and Economic Relations with Africa for 2025-2029.
He said Türkiye intends to combine its know-how in farm production, technology, machinery and agro-industry with Africa's production potential, with the aim of supporting food security, employment and sustainable development.
Bolat said cooperation with African countries would keep growing in the coming period under the leadership of President Recep Tayyip Erdogan.
He added that the shared potential would be turned into concrete projects and that the long-term economic partnership would be raised to a higher level.
Türkiye has widened its diplomatic and commercial presence in Africa over the past two decades, opening embassies across much of the continent and expanding trade and development links.
Agriculture employs a large share of the workforce in many African economies, which is why food security and farm productivity often feature prominently in discussions between African governments and their trading partners.
