England prepare for Australia white-ball series ahead of 2027 World Cup

Coach Brendon McCullum wants his side to learn from the Pakistan tri-series before the eight matches against Australia begin on Nov. 13.

England's white-ball squad arrived in Perth on Monday ahead of eight matches against Australia, the International Cricket Council (ICC) said in a statement.

The fixtures comprise three one-day internationals and five Twenty20 internationals, starting with the first ODI in Perth on Nov. 13.

England coach Brendon McCullum said the tour is a chance to keep testing the side's methods ahead of the one-day World Cup.

"It's nice to be back," McCullum said.

He described Australian tours as competitive and said the team would play at some strong stadiums against a good side.

"We want to play a high-octane, robust style of play," McCullum said, adding that the series would include a fitness block.

The trip is England's first since their Ashes campaign at the start of the year, which McCullum did not want to dwell on.

England played four matches in the recent tri-series in Pakistan, and skipper Harry Brook and opener Ben Duckett were among the run scorers.

The side won only one match and missed out on a place in the final, but McCullum said the tournament gave the team the chance to face different opposition and tactics.

"We've got a pretty inexperienced team," McCullum said, saying the pressure moments would help players understand the game better.

The ICC said the 2027 Cricket World Cup will be held in South Africa, Zimbabwe and Namibia at the end of next year.
