Samsung Lions defeat Kia Tigers to reach Korean Series for second time in three seasons

Sports - Yonhap

The Samsung Lions clinched a spot in the Korean Series by defeating the Kia Tigers 6-1 in Game 5 of the Korea Baseball Organization postseason, Yonhap News Agency reported.

The Lions' victory was fueled by Kim Ji-chan's impressive performance, with three hits and three RBIs, and starter Ariel Jurado's strong pitching, who earned his second win of the series after tossing seven solid innings.

The Lions won the best-of-five series 3-2, with a sellout crowd of 23,550 fans cheering them on at Daegu Samsung Lions Park.

The Lions will face the regular-season champions KT Wiz in the best-of-seven championship battle, which begins on Tuesday at KT Wiz Park in Suwon.

The KT Wiz earned a bye to the Korean Series after their regular-season finale on October 12 and are seeking their second championship, having won in 2021.
