Bangladesh Names New Squad for Second Test Against West Indies

Bangladesh replaces Mominul Haque with Amite Hasan in squad for second Test against West Indies due to concussion protocol

Sports - ICC

Bangladesh has made one change to its 15-member squad for the second Test against West Indies, replacing Mominul Haque with wicketkeeper-batter Amite Hasan, the International Cricket Council (ICC) reported on Sunday.

Mominul Haque suffered a head injury while fielding in the first Test and must adhere to a mandatory seven-day stand-down period before returning to play.

Amite Hasan, who debuted in June against Zimbabwe, has played only one Test but boasts an impressive domestic record with 4040 runs in 54 matches at an average of 50.50.

The updated squad includes Najmul Hossain Shanto (captain), Shadman Islam, Tanzid Hasan, Towhid Hridoy, Litton Das, Jaker Ali, Mehidy Hasan Miraz, Nayeem Hasan, Hasan Mahmud, Taijul Islam, Shoriful Islam, Mushfiqur Rahim, Taskin Ahmed, Ebadot Hossain, and Amite Hasan.

Bangladesh's defeat in the first Test dropped them from fourth to fifth in the World Test Championship standings.

The team struggled in the first Test, despite securing a 27-run first-innings lead, as Jomel Warrican's nine-wicket haul led West Indies to an eight-wicket victory.

West Indies' openers Brandon King (81*) and John Campbell (49) put on a century stand to chase down 170 for victory in the final innings.
