Yemeni army claims 875 operations against Houthi forces
The military said its forces also destroyed or damaged 50 vehicles and equipment pieces, including missile launchers, during the operations.
Yemeni government forces claimed on Saturday to have carried out 875 operations against Houthi fighters, Turkey's state-run news agency Anadolu Agency reported.
Military spokesman Majed al-Nazili said in a statement posted on the social media platform X that the strikes targeted Houthi positions, reinforcements and military hardware under Operation Dawn of Yemen.
Warplanes, drones and artillery provided air and fire support for the campaign, which the army said destroyed or damaged 50 military vehicles and pieces of equipment, including missile launchers.
The army also claimed that 130 Houthi fighters and commanders were killed or put out of action in the operations.
In Taiz province in the southwest, government troops and allied Popular Resistance fighters said they were beating back Houthi attacks and hitting the group's movements.
Other units targeted Houthi forces and reinforcements in Marib and Al-Jawf provinces, while government-aligned groups continued operations on the southern and western fronts, the military said.
The military said its forces were taking precautions to protect civilians and civilian infrastructure.
The Houthis had not immediately responded to the army's statement.
Yemen has been caught in conflict since 2014, when the Houthis seized the capital, Sanaa, and parts of the country.
A Saudi-led coalition intervened in 2015 to support Yemen's internationally recognized government, a move that led to years of fighting and a severe humanitarian crisis.
Fighting between government forces and the Houthis flared again in July, when a 2022 ceasefire broke down.
