Yemeni forces claim three Houthi missile launchers destroyed

The claim comes amid renewed fighting that the UN says has displaced more than 250,000 people since July.

They destroyed three Houthi missile launchers and killed their crews, Yemen's pro-government Giants Brigades claimed on Wednesday, Turkey's state-run news agency Anadolu Agency reported.

In a brief statement, the brigades said the launchers were ready to fire when they were hit, and they released footage they said showed the strike.

The statement did not say where the operation took place or how many crew members died.

The Houthis had not responded to the claim at the time of reporting.

Earlier on Wednesday, Yemen's armed forces said they had carried out 1,322 operations under a campaign called Operation Dawn of Yemen.

The military said those operations had killed or disabled about 340 fighters and commanders and destroyed or damaged 114 military vehicles and pieces of equipment.

Fighting between government forces and the Houthis resumed in July, killing and wounding thousands of people, according to UN reports.

The same reports said more than 250,000 people had been displaced by the renewed clashes.

The fighting ended a period of relative calm that had held since April 2022, further deepening Yemen's humanitarian crisis.

Yemen has been in a civil war since the Houthis seized the capital Sanaa and several provinces in September 2014.

A Saudi-led coalition intervened in March 2015 to support the internationally recognized government.

Based on reporting by Anadolu Agency, Turkey's state-run news agency.
