Georgia Wareham hits unbeaten 73 as Renegades beat Strikers
The win was the Renegades' second in four days and their best total in five years, with Wareham scoring her highest WBBL innings.
The Melbourne Renegades beat the Adelaide Strikers by 36 runs in Weber WBBL|12 on Saturday, Cricket Australia said in a statement.
The match was played at Junction Oval, and it was the Renegades' second win in four days this season.
Georgia Wareham made an unbeaten 73 from 31 balls, her highest score in the WBBL, to lead the Renegades to 3-188.
The Strikers replied with 8-152, and the Renegades' total was their third-highest in club history and their best in five years.
Wareham shared an unbroken 109-run stand with Courtney Webb from 58 balls, which equalled the Renegades' record partnership for the club.
The Strikers started well with an opening stand of 67 in 8.3 overs, but Emma de Broughe was run out for 27 in a mix-up with Maia Bouchier.
Bouchier made 54 from 38 balls before the Strikers slipped to 3-94 from 12.1 overs, and the wickets kept falling after that.
Tayla Vlaeminck sealed the result with a double-wicket maiden in the 17th over, the second of the Strikers' power surge.
Wareham, who was named player of the match and also took a wicket, said opener Hayley Matthews had set up the win with 49 from 32 balls.
Wareham praised Vlaeminck, who returned after missing a year and a half of cricket with a dislocated shoulder suffered at the 2024 Twenty20 World Cup.
"It's awesome to see Tayla out there charging in, trying to bowl as fast as she can every ball," Wareham said.
"To have such control is massive, and after a massive break out of the game is even more special."
