India beat New Zealand by four runs under the DLS method in a rain-affected one-day international in Wellington on Saturday, the International Cricket Council (ICC) said in a statement.

Gurnoor Brar took four wickets for 30 runs, and Auqib Nabi and Anshul Kamboj took two each, as New Zealand were bowled out for 134 in 41 overs.

Axar Patel also took two wickets, including that of Daryl Mitchell, who top-scored with 55.

Mitchell and Mitchell Santner put on a 59-run stand for the sixth wicket to steady the hosts after early losses left them 23 for three in the ninth over.

New Zealand's innings had been stop-start after a rain delay, and the middle order struggled against the moving ball.

Chasing 135 from 47 overs, India lost Shubman Gill and Virat Kohli early to Jacob Duffy, who bowled both in his first two overs.

Rohit Sharma scored 23 and Shreyas Iyer made 30 before Matthew Jamieson dismissed Iyer off the final ball of the 20th over.

KL Rahul was unbeaten on 26 at the end, and Naman Dhir was caught in the deep while attempting a six against Duffy when India were within 27 runs of the target.

Rain then stopped play with the Indian side marginally ahead on the DLS calculation, which decided the result.

India now lead the five-match series 2-0 after winning the first match in Auckland on Nov. 4 by five wickets under the DLS method.

The fourth match of the series is scheduled for Nov. 13 at Mount Maunganui.
